Tassels are a fun way to spice up your project - add them to your scarf, blanket or hat! Follow the below steps and learn how to make your own tassels!
Start off by cutting about 10 x 5 inch strands of yarn
Cut an additional piece of yarn about 2 feet long and place it underneath the 5 inch strands tying it in a knot around the center.
Fold the 5 inch strands in half around the knot you just tied. you will have about a foot of yarn coming out of the right and left sides.
Wrap the strand on your left clockwise around the folded strands twice about half an inch below the fold. Do the same with the strand on your left, but wrap it counterclockwise. The folded stands will look like a little octopus!
Thread your embroidery needle through the strand on your right side. Bring the needle through the very top of the folded part (i.e. octopus head) pulling the strand through to the left. Do the same with the strand on the left side, pulling it through to the right.
Pick a corner of your project. Thread the righthand strand through your embroidery needle and bring it through the corner from top to bottom.
Thread the lefthand strand through your embroidery needle and bring it through the corner from bottom to top.
Keep the strand threaded through the needle and bring the needle down through the loops around the octopus head pulling tightly. Do the same with the left hand strand.
Trim the ends so they're even. Repeat for the other three corners!
